1. Who We Are
Naija Campus ("we", "us") operates a platform for Nigerian students. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Naija Campus, we collect:
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your plain-text password)
- OAuth information: if you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from that provider
- Academic information: your institution, faculty/academic unit, department, programme, student type, and level
- Content you create: posts, messages, community activity, and files you upload to Secvora AI
- Technical information: basic usage data needed to operate and secure the Platform
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To connect you with your correct campus and academic community
- To operate features like Feed, Communities, DMs, and Secvora AI
- To send account-related emails (e.g. email verification, password reset) via our email provider, Resend
- To keep the Platform secure and prevent abuse
- To improve the Platform over time
4. Secvora AI & Third-Party AI Providers
When you send a message or upload a file to Secvora AI, that content is sent to third-party AI providers (such as Google Gemini or Groq) to generate a response. These providers process the content on their own infrastructure, which may be located outside Nigeria. We do not control how these providers handle data beyond what their own terms specify. Please avoid uploading highly sensitive personal documents (e.g. containing national ID numbers, financial account details, or medical records) to Secvora AI.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us run the Platform (e.g. our email provider, AI providers used by Secvora, our hosting/database providers)
- With other students, where you choose to post, message, or make information visible (e.g. your profile, posts, community activity)
- Where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Naija Campus, our users, or the public
6. Cookies & Local Storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences (such as a remembered email on the login page). We do not use tracking cookies for advertising, and Naija Campus does not display third-party ads.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.
8. Your Rights
Under Nigerian data protection law (the Nigeria Data Protection Act), you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for optional processing, where applicable
To exercise these rights, contact us through the details provided within the Platform.
9. Children's Privacy
Naija Campus is intended for students engaged with tertiary (post-secondary) education or preparing to enter it. It is not directed at children under the age required by applicable law to consent to data processing on their own behalf.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including password hashing and secure authentication tokens. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
